Definitions of the terms used in Deribfy documentation. One term, one definition, the same everywhere.
Scope: all site types.
Showcase website — A site type that presents a business without selling anything.
Online store — A site type that sells the merchant's own products, whose stock the merchant manages. Also called a store, a merchant site, or an e-commerce site.
Dropshipping store — A site type that sells products from a supplied catalogue, without the merchant holding any stock.
Print-on-demand — Manufacturing an item at the moment of the order, with a design applied to it. The design may be the merchant's or their customer's.
Preview — A private view of a site, restricted to its owner, before it goes live. It shows the site as it will be.
Publication — A site moving from private to public. It results from the subscription being activated.
Subscription — The single paid plan that puts a site online and keeps it there.
Deribfy address — The web address given to every site, available from publication, with no configuration.
Custom domain — A domain name belonging to the merchant, bought through Deribfy or brought by them.
DNS — The system that associates a domain name with where the site is hosted. Connecting one means adding records to it.
Propagation — The delay during which a DNS change spreads. From a few minutes to a few hours.
Sitemap — A file listing a site's pages, intended for search engines.
Structured data — Information added to a page in a format search engines understand: products, prices, frequently asked questions, address.
`llms.txt` — A plain-text file summarising a site, designed to be read by artificial intelligence systems.
AI visibility — A measure of a brand's presence in the answers of AI answer engines, expressed as a score out of 100.
Margin — The percentage added to the supply cost to obtain a selling price, in dropshipping.
